Industry focus retail management

The retail sector has been facing structural change for years. Online trade is steadily increasing, the number of small shops is steadily decreasing and large companies are making more and more turnover. Other topics are internationalisation and technological changes. These companies offer you professional entry into this diverse sector in cooperation with the DHSH.

Study contents

In the first four semesters, you will learn all the important economic knowledge in the field of retail management in four modules of business administration, each with eight semester hours per semester. At the end of the three-year programme, you will be well prepared to make decisions in the field of merchandise management, to apply theoretical principles of marketing instruments to retail companies and to make management decisions.

Credit Points

The modules usually end with a written exam or, in some modules, with a term paper. You receive five credit points for each exam you pass.

Additional degrees

In addition to the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, you can complete a commercial vocational qualification during the three-year degree programme. Furthermore, there is the additional option of obtaining a trainer's qualification in accordance with the Ordinance on Trainer's Qualification (AEVO). The trainer's certificate is the formal authorisation to train in a company later on.
